Expedition to Haiti!

Katie will be leaving shortly for an adventure around Haiti aboard the RV Endeavor!  She’ll be collecting sediment cores in hopes of identifying a recurrence interval of past earthquakes in order to predict future events.  This expedition will also involve extensively mapping the fault zone using high-resolution geophysical equipment and trapping gases that are seeping from the fault zones.  Ideally this project will be a small part of her dissertation.  Hopefully the internet connection I set up will work and she’ll be able to stay in touch via this blog.

The map below should automatically update with the boat’s location.  Feel free to post comments and Katie will try to get back to you.

Hi Katie, The kids watched the press release and think your boat and all those tents are very cool. They were also very excited to see all those “TVs” on the boat. They want to know what day you will arrive in Haiti. They also want to see pictures of Auntie Katie on the boat. Stay safe and we wish you a successful mission!
    Love, Courtney

Happy Birthday, well maybe a day late. did anyone get you a cake or something for your birthday cruise. If I were you I probably would have picked a different cruise line. I put an article about you in the Froedtert: Vital Signs Newsletter for Surgical Services. I will send you the copy when we finish putting it together. It is basically the information that I had asked Aaron for. Love ya, and take care. OXOXO PV
